Day #24 – Pulling Out Past Pain Meditation – 30 Days of Qigong to Better Health

Hi, I’m Chris Shelton Thank you for joining me for Day 24
30 Days of Qigong to Better Health Today’s practice
is called Pulling out Past Pain Meditation and up to this point, we’ve worked on,
with different meditative as well as moving practices in order to help to deal with trauma and in particularly, we’ve always,
we focus the emphasis that a negative emotions, and different types of negative emotions affect certain organs of the body i.e., like anger, hatred, hostility will affect your liver and gallbladder worry and pensiveness,
over-intellectualizing or thinking too much affects your spleen and your pancreas but besides the internal organs and the channels we can also have emotions that get stuck
in different areas of our body hence, the reason why I think that we end up seeing
cancer, different types of cancers in different parts of the bodies,
because where we tend to store it but we’re not really so certain as to how we store these negative energies or these negative circumstances So today’s practice is to enlighten you on the fact of where you store or hold on to, and it doesn’t
always have to be the same but in the case of today’s meditation,
where do you hold on to past pain where do you hold on to things in the present, and
then where do you hold on to things in the future So today’s practice, what we’re going to do is
first we’re going to focus on a past pain whatever it may be, it could be something that created some kind of loss, anxiety, some fear, some doubt, anger whatnot, over excitation, mania And you’re going to focus on that, feel what it is who was involved, what was involved, and I want you to use your mind intent,
and I want you to feel where you store this past pain
this is really important and there’s no right or wrong here and it doesn’t always have to be in the heart center,
a lot of people think well, it must be in the heart if it’s a past pain
yes, it may be there but you know for some people, it may be their whole entire
body that this past pain actually encompasses, so feel where you hold it and what we’re going to do is I’m going to circle, for myself anyways,
because I’m do the meditation with you as I’m talking you guys through the meditation but I’m going to circle where I hold on to my past pain and then I’m going to take a mental note of
where I store that Then from there, I’m going to talk
to you through moving into the present what do you feel now in the present what are your thoughts,
what are your emotions right now being mindful of the sounds in your room or in your environment for what you’re doing this meditation the sounds of my voice if you have any music playing in the background,
if there is any noise out in the street what do you hear,
what are you experiencing in the now and I want you to circle, or I’m going to circle for you,
the size and shape of the area where I feel or experience my present but for everybody, I want you to be mindful as to where the presence, and, in the case of doing
this meditation today, is being reacted within you so, you are going to circle the size and shape,
whatever that is Then we’re going into the future,
if there’s an upcoming event it could be something that you’re worried about
or anxious about but also it could be something you’re looking forward to something you’re really excited about where do you store this future event and once again
I’m going to circle the size and shape of it and all for the purpose of making
you much more aware of how you hold different things inside your body,
and it’s not just the organs or it’s not just in the acupuncture channels but in other tissues of the body I heard somebody say years ago this gal that did a workshop with us 12-step Yoga, she was an amazing woman and she said, “we have issues in our tissues” and so, it’s so the truth and the more mindful you become of how you
hold on to issues, good or bad or indifferent, the more aware of your being you become and, then more of an ability you have to let it go,
and that’s where this meditation comes into play From there, we’re going to go back to that past trauma, whatever that may be, and that area for which you felt that past trauma,
you’re going to imagine it leaving the body and with your eyes closed and your mind intent, you are going to imagine it ascending up towards the sky towards heaven or whatever you want to call it and, eventually,
as I talk you through this meditation, you’re going to imagine this past pain
detaching from your body like an umbilical cord leaving, and as it ascends, using your mind intent you’re going to follow it until it leaves to the place to where you can no longer see it and once it’s completely gone,
you’re going to imagine that, from there, that you’re surrounded by white light,
divine energy begins to shower you through the inside of the body, through the outside of the body, you’re just standing in a place of white light and in particular, the area of the body
for which you held this past trauma Okay, really groovy practice great to do to get rid of past trauma present trauma, or things even in the future,
and also for you become more mindful of how your body, or your mind
assimilates these events Okay. So starting from our Wu ji posture, feet out about shoulders-width apart, knees slightly bent tucking the sacrum,
pressing back the Ming Men, the tip of the tongue curled to the roof of the mouth, behind the teeth as if you’re saying the letter “N” tucking the chin, which then presses up on the Bai Hui
or the crown point on the top the head slightly spreading the shoulders,
pushing back the Shen Dao acupuncture point between the shoulder blades breath, long, steady, even, and deep
into the lower abdomen And we begin by Pulling Down the Heavens
three times, inhale and exhaling inhale exhale and gathering exhaling bring the arms up Inhale,
Tossing the Stone, exhale and release Gazing at the tips of the fingers,
and allow for any excessive thoughts, feelings, or emotions to flow off, going several feet away from the body,
and down deep into the ground And then from there, slowing down and back to the middle and Pulling Down the Heavens three times inhale and exhale Gathering, inhale Exhaling Inhale allowing the white light to flow down
deep into the ground And then from there, bring the
feet a little bit closer together, begin to lightly bounce relaxing the knees, the hips, the shoulders and focusing first on the ankles, and just allow for any tension or tightness in the ankles to release out through the bubbling well points,
deep into the earth Next, the knees, any tension or tightness in the knees, allow for that to release guiding it out through the feet
and deep into the ground Next, the hips, the low back any tension there, releasing that out
from this gentle shaking Next, the center of the back and chest,
any emotions, thoughts, feelings allow for that to release as well,
guiding it out through the legs, out through the feet and deep into the ground And then from there, the wrists and hands all tension, discomfort there leaving out the tips of the fingertips And then the elbows the shoulders the head and neck releasing out all pain, tension, and tightness there guiding it out through the fingertips
and down deep into the ground And then from there, we stop bouncing
and then we inhale rolling up on the balls of the feet,
pulling the energy beyond the top of the head exhale and drop Inhaling, golden light comes up and release and up and release And then from there,
stepping back into your wu ji posture Shaking the Tree, inhaling all the way up exhaling down, inhaling up and releasing And inhale and release Pulling Down the Heavens three times,
inhale gathering the qi, exhaling Inhale and exhale And then from there, going directly into our
Center and Balance meditation Allow for warm oil to flow down from the crown point through the front of the head, enveloping the forehead, eyebrows, eyes, temples cheeks nose flowing down inch by inch, cell by cell, tissue by tissue through the ears,
the front of the ears, the side of the face base of the nose in to the lips, chin and jaw structure touching everything as it melts into the neck and throat upper shoulders, upper chest and biceps flowing down through the biceps
and elbow creases into the forearms you now visualize and feel as this warm oil
flows into the wrists the palms of the hands, leading all the way
out to the fingertips And then from there this white light, this warm oil now
envelops the entire chest the flanks of the body, underneath the armpits the midsection the abdomen the waist the groin, the thighs the knees melting down into the shins, ankles, feet and toes this warm oil flows down deep into the ground And then from there, feel the entire front
and left and right sides of the body from head to toe simultaneously feel what’s there and then begin to melt down
through the back of the head the ears this warm oil touches every cell, every hair follicle the scalp into the base of the neck and then to the shoulders and into the triceps, elbows, forearms, wrists, back of the hands,
leading all the way out to the fingertips And then from there
enveloping the entire upper back, mid-back, low back the waist the buttocks the hamstrings, the back of the knees
and calves and ankles, heels allow for this warm oil to flow
down deep into the ground and then from there just feel the entire back of the body from head to toe feeling as much in the back as you do
to the front, as well as to the left and to the right And then from there, connecting to your higher power, imagine a white light that flows
through the center of the body you now visualize and feel the brain the surrounding tissues beneath the brain behind the eyes all the muscles, bones, veins, capillaries the brainstem, the sinuses Feel and visualize the inner ear, the teeth, the tongue, the jaw structure each of the vertebra of the neck and throat,
the muscles, the arteries surrounding them branching off into the bones and muscles
of the shoulders, upper chest through the biceps, triceps, elbows the center of the forearms all the small bones, tendons, ligaments of the wrists hands and fingers From there, this white light touches every rib Feel it wrap around to the spine on the back you feel, visualize the heart, the lungs,
the liver and gallbladder the stomach and spleen the intestines the urinary bladder, the kidneys, the pelvic bone tailbone, the femurs, the bones of the
legs and muscles surrounding them the center of the knees, you now visualize
and feel the center of the shins and calves and ankles and all the small bones, tendons,
ligaments of the feet and toes allow for this white light to flow
down deep into the ground And from there,
you allow your feet to melt into the earth and you imagine that roots grow out all the way down to the center core of the earth from the bottom of the feet as you inhale, you begin to pull this golden light up through the body, in through the abdomen as you inhale then as you exhale, any dark turbid qi flows back down out the legs, out the roots and down deep into the ground Inhaling, coming up and exhaling, flowing down inhaling up and exhaling,
releasing out any dark, heavy energy Inhale and exhale then on the next inhalation, coming up in
through the lower Tan Tien, and going go straight up the spine, up over the top of the head, down the front of the face the chest, the abdomen, flowing through the perineum then up the tailbone, up the spine again, up over the top of the head, down the front of the face,
the chest, the abdomen flowing through the small heaven breathing meditation,
referred to as the Micro Cosmic Orbit guiding up flowing down And then on the next one,
going directly into the major orbit so as it flows down through the midline of the body flows in through the Tan Tien, through the perineum down the inner aspect of the legs around to the bubbling well points,
and up the outside of the legs to the tailbone then straight up the spine up over the top of the head, down the front of the face, the chest, the abdomen into the Tan Tien, flowing through the perineum,
then down the inner aspect of the legs around to the bubbling well points then up the outside of the legs, up to the tailbone then up the spine again, up over the top the head, down the front of the face, chest, abdomen flowing through the perineum doing the Macro Cosmic Orbit meditation Also referred to as the major orbit meditation flowing around coming up, doing one last one and allow for that energy to flow
down into the lower Tan Tien And then from there, just Pulling Down the Heavens three times, restore that energy back, inhale Exhaling Gather and exhale and inhale and exhaling, pulling any excess energy
out of the head into the lower Tan Tien And then from there focusing on the past pain in your life, something
that’s caused some type of trauma for you anger, hurt, disappointment, loss feel it now as though it’s just occurred who was involved, what was involved trying to bring up something that caused past pain and feel where you hold that past pain in your body, and I want you to circle the
size and shape of that area just so you have a mindful connection as to where you’re holding this specific past trauma How large is it or how small is it? Does it encompass your entire being or just a small area? Good, and then from there just taking a mental note on that,
and now focusing on the present What’s going on in the present for you? your thoughts feelings, emotions the sound of my voice the sounds of your body, the sounds of the space
around you, outside the room you’re in feel now where you hold the present and I want you to feel and then circle the size and shape of that area at least for today’s practice, where are you
holding present thoughts and feelings Okay, and then from there,
focusing on the future an upcoming event that maybe you’re
excited about, looking forward to or maybe something that you’re dreading
that creates anxiety for you or creates worry or fear thinking of that, and now, I want you to start to feel where you hold that future event and then once again, circle the size
and shape of that area how much of your being does it encompass Really good, and then from there,
going back to the past pain where you hold that, held that trauma that circumstance and I want you to imagine that it begins to
leave your body, out of the area ascending upwards, towards your Creator like an umbilical cord, detaching from
the body, letting go of the pain and only keeping the wisdom that’s the only thing that’s really important,
holding on to the pain or the hurt does nothing for us just what enlightens us from it and what can we learn keeping that and feel and visualize, as it unwinds and travels further and further away, using your mind intent flowing up towards the heavens, as it flows away and as it flows out of your body
and away from you you imagine that it detaches from you and you watch and you guide with your mind intent,
as it drifts further and further away, this umbilical cord, now no longer attached to you and you watch as it disappears returning back to heaven, to your source And then from there, once it fully disappears,
you can no longer see it the healing begins, and imagine yourself standing in a sea of white light that showers around you,
through your body and in particular, filling up the void from where this past pain once was feel as though you’re standing in the space of
complete emptiness or nothingness all the walls, floor, ceiling,
everything melts away and you’re just basting,
basking in divine energy, white light only keeping the wisdom from that circumstance and allow the white light, the shower of white light
to fill up into the void and slowly coming back to the present feel everything around you come back feeling completely rejuvenated the energy much lighter And then just Pull Down the Heavens three times, inhaling and exhaling Inhale and exhale third time Inhale and exhaling And then from there,
placing the hands over the lower Tan Tien, Imagine a white pearl that forms underneath the hands, gathering the energy of your body As you exhale, feel this white pearl release
or restore the vitality of the kidneys on the low back Each time you inhale, the pearl gets thicker and brighter, then as you exhale, feel it return back Doing one more releasing the energy into the kidneys And then from there, slowly open up your eyes shaking out your legs,
kind of waking everything up again Okay, coming back to the present Here’s another great cleansing exercise now to be to give you tools to not only
let go of the past trauma, but also to really recognize and see where you may hold
“issues in your tissues” that statement, by the way, was from Nikki Myers
who has classes and yoga for, yoga for recovery so,
so check her out: Nikki Myers but anyways, yeah, simple practice profound results and this is something that you can do anywhere and you don’t have to do all the other practices prior to jumping into these meditations For example, you don’t have to do
the qi clearing exercises None of the Center and Balance meditation,
Micro Cosmic, Macro Cosmic Orbit, you can just jump right into this And it would be good to visit these practices,
so even after we move on into Day 25, 26, etcetera it would be good to come back to
some of these meditations to focus on other things or you may find that you thought that you
got rid of most of the trauma from that one circumstance and you revisit this
meditation again and actually realize that there’s much, much more there and that’s normal because it’s like
peeling away the layers to get to the center of your self of your being and it’s just a great way to cultivate yourself and to improve your connection with yourself,
and everybody else and everything else around you My name is Chris Shelton Thank you for joining me for Day 24
30 Days of Qigong to Better Health Until tomorrow, c’est la qi
