Andy’s diabetes reversal story: “3 years later, Virta is the best thing that’s ever happened to me”

I had a brother who had diabetes, my mother
had diabetes. I’ve seen a lot in the family and I wasn’t surprised but also seing
what happened to my brother, he’s a year older than me, he passed away in 2006
from complications, and I didn’t want to go that route. Before I heard about the
Virta treatment, I had no clue it was reversible. I’ve been getting a test for
the A1c. All along I knew was getting higher and higher. I was expecting it. The pain was considerable. Me knee just ached all the time and my back did all kinds of
stuff but I also weighed 310 pounds – it wasn’t long after getting into the
Virta treatment that a lot of that went away. It’s the best thing ever
happened to me. Three years later, I’ve officially reversed my diabetes. The
process of getting off the medications— they did it a little at a time. First
they’d eliminate one of the doses then they eliminated another dose and then
finally my blood glucose was running in 60s and 70s and they got rid of the last
one. It was like probably within three months. Reason why it’s helpful to have Virta in
your life is that they can reverse the diabetes. You got to work at it too, but
it can be reversed. My favorite part about Virta, I think, is the health
coaches and their attention to getting you going right. The support network like
that’s just awesome. The small victories is what kept the whole thing going too.
What I could do now that I didn’t do before I can bend over and tie my shoes.
When you work on the equipment, changing tires or doing whatever, putting the
bills on the tractor, it feels good not to be all out of breath and wanting to
sit somewhere. I had no clue where I’d be. All I knew was I was gonna give it my best
shot, and it’s worked well. If I hadn’t started Virta, I could be anywhere from sitting on the couch to in the ground. My wife tells me
that I’m a different man now. I go out and do things, and I chase the grandkids
around, where before I’d just sit on this chair and watch them. I think I’m gonna
survive a lot longer right now, you know, and I’m ready to.
